I live in a country that is not my own, I speak a language that is not my own when in that country, and sometimes… things happen. Today, a visit to the hairdressers… I was speaking in this language that is not my own, with a stylist who doesn’t speak this language as a first language either. We don’t share a common language other than this language. This is when I should have walked out, and rescheduled with someone I could communicate effectively with, especially considering it’s my hair we’re talking about.

Perhaps I should have paid more attention to what said stylist was doing, but suffice to say, I will not be going out tonight, nor tomorrow night, and I may well stay in for the coming week. I’m even considering trying to work from home next week. My hair… this morning… was longer than in the photo that accompanies this post… and I quite liked it that way, having cultivated it for some weeks… my hair… now, as I type this, and as small snippets of hair falls to the keyboard intermittently over these past five minutes… my hair… now, is shorter than in the photo that accompanies this post. I speak clearly, for I want no further confusion today, I advise… NEVER… to get your hair cut in a country where language… might get you in trouble.

I’m not much impressed.

Imma Gibert’s work is imagination itself. She takes such simple objects - rings, brooches, hairpins and makes them special - delicate to the touch, handmade and all one-of-a-kind.

Imma sent me this shot, which is a close-up of a necklace, made finished with silver and copper. At this magnification, the quality of the work is evident.

I love London’s museums and galleries for many reasons, one of them is cheap jewellery. I know it may sound ambiguous. Cheap and London in one sentences and to make it even more bizarre combined together with jewellery and museums.

P.S and if you’re interested in ridiculously cheap authentic jewellery with the past the east London with all its junk shops is the place to be.

Ralph Lauren.  Ahem, fellow New Yorker Ralph Lauren.  His show stopping 40th Anniversary Collection left not a dry panty in the house.  Trust.

Running through the busy streets of London this weekend I fell victim to total discrimination. I was told twice I should not be allowed to wear high heels.

Why? I ask.  Because I’m 5’10’’ and wearing 3 inch stilettos apparently is not appropriate with my height. Why? I ask again. ‘Just because’ is the answer I get. Just because what? Nobody knows. 

Does being tall mean I have no right to look sexy?  

Introducing Gemma Pampalona, with a workshop about a skateboard’s throw from MACBA in Barcelona, jewellery artiste extraordinaire.

Gemma creates primarily in crochet, and her strength lies in earrings, but extends to necklaces and bracelets. Very delicate work.

In my very recent search for a new place to live I found something absolutely fabulous - A BOAT. If not for the fact that the boat is located in a part of London I do not wish to move to I would take it without hesitation!

When I look at my guitar, I feel a sense of pride because I am able to play this instrument. Not well but just alright. Just plucking the strings warms my heart and gives me peace. Listening to the sound from this beautiful instrument comforts my soul. That’s why whenever I’m feeling down or lonely, my guitar would be my friend. :) That’s how I feel when I’m with my guitar.
