Announced just yesterday, H&M’s designers are creating a collection with Marimekko’s patterns from the 1950s, 60s and 70s for the summer 2008 H&M collection. The collection of some 50 products will be sold in Hennes stores from April.

Marimekko Hook-up With H&M

The blah blah blah goes: “Our design team has long admired Marimekko’s vivid patterns and colours. When our designers came up with the idea of creating a collection with Marimekko patterns, it felt very natural and timely. The summer collection 2008 will be joyfully fresh like a vitamin injection,” states H&M’s head of design Margareta van den Bosch. *PUKE*

They’d better sort our some decent publicity imagery - look at the thing I had to publish!

What’s wrong with the ‘thing’ you had to publish?

Where do I start:

- This image was less large than I would have liked, I couldn’t find bigger.
- This image is a poor graphic rather than a hi-quality image, which I would have liked.
- The fashion displayed therein doesn’t inspire (me).
- The artwork looks like it’s been put together by a 14 year old.
- I would have liked something glossier for Le Style
- Oh, and there are too few breasts in the shot.

What is it you thought I was complaining about, Keisha…?

I did not know what you where complaining about Mark, that is why I asked. Personally, I find the print exceptionally appealing.

Marimekko have a really nice officey wear collection with none of that bold baroque print that I personally hate on clothes (I can just about tolerate it for interiors!). They use a lot of black, white and grey which I love.

I haven’t bought anything in H&M for the last *counting* 2 years AND it looks like I won’t buy anything any time soon…
