Trixi will be getting a rather nice surprise present this week, I think.

Trixi will be getting a rather nice surprise present this week, I think.

From the hallowed pages of Future Music, this story:

“The silver Tenori-On looks like a small tablet PC with a 16×16 grid of white LEDs. The lights can be seen from both the front and the back of the unit, so an audience can take part in the visual fun as well. The Tenori-On is meant to be programmed both musically and visually. In fact, you can program the music, and then go back and program a customized visual sequence to complement what you’ve composed.”
So the thing can be played as if you were designing with your fingertips, or it can be played by just knowing what notes are where on the instrument, and it has built-in speakers. Rad, or what?!
Hilary Alexander of London’s Independent explains why Kane has been heralded the star of this week’s London Fashion Week.

“Kane, who graduated from Central Saint Martin’s fashion college in London just seven months ago — and had already been talent-spotted by Donatella Versace while still a student — both lived up to the expectations invested in him and survived the hype surrounding his second appearance on the LFW catwalk.”
More from Alexander, and more images, here.
Rebecca Traister over at Salon takes an interesting perspective on the fall from grace of Britney Spears, and her woeful performance at the MTV VMAs last week. Quote: “Spears has come to represent something — something important enough that it keeps rearing its head. As has been pointed out before, she embodies the disdain in which this culture holds its young women: the desire to sexualize and spoil them while young, and to degrade and punish them as they get older. Of course, she also represents a youthful feminine willingness — stupid or manipulated as it may be — to conform to the culture’s every humiliating expectation of her.”

“Spears’ performance was execrable. Dressed in an unflattering sparkly bikini, Spears stumbled, wobbled, looked disoriented and confused; she barely moved through much of the routine, stepping tentatively around the stage while the dancers around her flipped and twirled. She couldn’t remember the words to the song to which she was lip-syncing and eventually stopped trying to even pretend to recognize them.”
Read more from article, here. Video of the performance itself here (for now, though it may be pulled).
I’m loving the interior of the new Mini car, revealed today at the Frankfurt motorshow, it’s just so classy.

I fell in love with this over at Etsy. Janine King Designs, the creator.

Perfect for those who want to carry the smaller iBooks.
I think this is pretty cute, Pinsetters over at Coudal. I like their simple and warm use of language on this site, built around an oh-so-simple idea. Pinsetters gets you buttons, little badges, with whatever characters you want, spelling whatever you want.

“Nine letters in ‘Genevieve’ is nine buttons, which is nine bucks, plus one for postage.” Nice business idea.
… I log onto the Sartorialist over at Blogspot - fabulous selection of styles from NY and places like Sweden. Check out the two shots below, taken from recent postings on that blog.

No comments today, thanks.
I thought this pretty clever. Puts paid to all those ugly wires snaking around your room for various iPods, cellphones, Blackberrys and the like.

Wish my room were this tidy!
I’m liking the Green Wheelie Sm. Civilian, as they call their mouthful, from R.E.Load. A small five-person business split between Seattle and Philadelphia, their bags are handmade, and tend to favour the cyclists out there (not I!)… but I do travel on two wheels, so I count!
The one I like above (in green) isn’t exactly cheap at US$216, but the look is so now, the size at 13″H x 15″W x 6″D is just right, and I appreciate that it’s a small business that cares about the quality of its product. A thumbs-up from me.
As hard to say as they are hard to find: especially when you start naming titles and types, the blue one below for example is a Boblbee Megalopolis Sport. I’ve had my eye on these Swedish-designed carry-alls for a while now, for two reasons mainly: my back always aches when I carry my backpack, and these are supposed to support, not pressure, the back muscles; AND it’s got a hardshell, which would come in handy if I fell off my Vespa, as I’m always carrying my iBook.
The only reason I haven’t bought: they don’t make Boblbee’s big enough for the larger iBook sizes… so I remain disappointed. Come on Boblbee.
A great collection of magazine covers - as chosen by the president of American Society of Magazine Editors back in 2005 - which I guess explains the US-centric nature of the selection. I’m a particular fan of the 2001 New Yorker cover. List appears here.

Once you could re-date your ex on the quiet, shop in discount stores, lose weight at the gym in relative safety. With the camera-anywhere era we’ve entered, with cameras on phones, cameras on videocameras, web cameras broadcasting 24/7, it’s nigh on impossible to get anyway with anything. Introducing Underwater Camera Housing, affordable to everyone, removing that one last bastion of safety from the prying camera: underwater at your local club.
I came lens to nose with one of these on Wednesday, at about the four metre point - my good friend Jayn had brought it with her (someday I’ll post it guys…) - after I’d gotten over the shock I was taken by how very pretty it was.
One good thing about photos underwater girls: it distorts reality - I think I’ll be posing more.
Diesel are a clever bunch. Take a wall. Give artists an opportunity to get their art up there. Artists get benefit from association, Diesel get the street creds. I like what they’ve done here, in Milan. (And it works, Flickr is full of these images.)

My Italian’s not the best, so I can’t get you a translation just now, but I’m working on it! I’m guessing the guy on the left is saying he would like there to be a day when… something… to this wall. It’s the something I’m missing. Help? Solved. See comments. Thanks Patrizia.
I’m glued to this iBook too many hours a day. So, while here, I’d better enjoy it, unveiling: Desktopography.
Desktop imagery created especially for you, and your desktop. This year it’s nature-themed, see image above. Sweet!
I thought I’d FINALLY found a holder for my beloved Moo Cards. So cute, so colourful, so very desirable. Then I see the handmade creations were sold out, and I swear, I nearly wept.
Click on my link so the wee lass behind the creating of these things makes more of them, so I can get my thrill! See here.
As a fashion photographer based in NY, I’ve gotten accustomed to interior shoots, bright lighting, and enclosed spaces. I came across this shot of my beloved city on Flickr that just blew me away, and I had to post it. Click on this for the full uncropped version.
Oh, hello Le Style readers - glad to be here!
