‘Your Point of View” is a series of HSBC posters at the airports around the world. It definitely captures everybody’s attention and proves that simple ideas are the best. That’s my point of view.

    your point of view
You can say I’m biased as I am a happy owner of an HSBC bank account.

When it comes to fashion Maciej Zień  appears to be Polish celebrity favourite.

                 Zien

Being a huge fan of minimalistic approach to fashion I love him for all the simple ideas and little black dresses.

My coworker gave me today the cutest gift ever. A hammer, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Yes, I know what you’re thinking hammer and cute does not really go well in one sentence. Sorry but you’re wrong.

              Pretty Useful Tools

The tool kit I got is not just another tool kit. It’s a limited V&A edition daisy print tool kit decorated with the design of William Morris’ first wallpaper.

While drinking my morning tea and coming to terms with that one extra hour we’ve been given as a compensation for upcoming winter I discovered THIS website. I am full of admiration.

       Joanna Kustra

Kudos or … Qdos should I say.

Doris Salcedo has damaged the Turbine Hall in my beloved Tate Modern. The damage, called Shibboleth, is supposed to remind us about the uncomfortable truth and things we don’t want to think about.   crack

The opinions are varied. My friend’s daughter, who has experienced racism many times, said she doesn’t feel the need to stare at this crack on the floor to be aware of intolerance.

You can love it, you can hate it. It’s up to you and your personal perception of art. Nevertheless, to me, Shibboleth has fulfilled its mission as it got people talking.
Plus, to make it more real, many have already ‘experienced’ the crack by LITERALLY falling into it. That proves artist’s point - it’s good to be aware of its existance.

The main reason why I choose to pay more for having a haircut is neither the brand nor extraordinary skills of my hairdresser. It’s pure vanity.
Every single time I walk out the door of that particular salon I have a smile on my face. I don’t even care about the hair, the compliments I hear are worth all the money.

       guilty pleasure

Talk about professionalism.

I got my very first pair of earrings from my great-grandmother. I was 5 and I did not care much. However my grandma felt deeply insulted by the fact I didn’t wear her gift. Also it was considered ABNORMAL not to wear earrings at this age. Therefore one gloomy afternoon (the weather is my only memory of that day) I was dragged kicking and screaming to the local beautician to have my ears pierced.

         don’t dare to be different

5 years later I asked my mum if I could get another piercing in my left ear.

That one unfortunate piercing got me instantly into trouble. Two studs in my left ear made me a rebel in the eyes of all the teachers. Even though neither my grades nor my behavior was any different to what it was before. BUT there was something about me they couldn’t understand. I was so normal yet I had THAT extra earring and it was annoying the hell out of them.

Now I am a teacher. I still wear two earrings in my left ear and I am constantly being asked by Polish (!) children and their parents WHY do I have two of those?!

What is it about Polish people and their idea of what’s ‘NORMAL’ when it comes to appearance and such prejudice towards anything that’s even slightly different?

Besides, how do you define ‘normal’?

Grey seems to be small town favourite. I was walking down the street in my hometown this morning, everything and everybody was grey, grey and the same. As if there were no other colours, designs, styles. Just grey. Grey and shapeless.

    grey

Depressing.

I like my tea. I like it hot, I like it sweet and I like it served in a pretty mug.
Therefore I squeed in ecstasy when I saw the new limited Micky Mouse vintage mug collection at Whittard. Guess what I brought back home tonight?!

Airport security is not there to protect us, airport security is there to annoy us and make our trip difficult.
It’s been ages since I have traveled by plane with hand-luggage only.

         thank you

Can somebody explain to me how on Earth am I supposed to fit in all my liquid cosmetics into one clear plastic bag that is 20cm by 20cm?

I would like to take this opportunity to thank terrorists for making my life difficult again.

During my shopping adventure in central London this morning I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt saying ‘I BELONG TO A GENERATION THAT IS FAMOUS FOR NOTHING’
First of all, things written on t-shirts shouldn’t be THAT long, as it makes it hard to read especially when the t-shirt is being worn by an individual in motion.

Second. What’s the thought behind that slogan? Are we really such a lousy generation? Do we really have nothing to be proud of? … or are we a generation of ‘anybodies’ being famous for nothing (or just for the hell of it)

When you look at people like Chris Crocker everything becomes clear. He had been mentioned in every possible news program recently along with the Burma crisis and SA mine rescue.

Polish designers (just like anything Polish*) are in my opinion seriously undervalued. Might be simply because there is no such a thing as Polish fashion in the mind of an average citizen of the so-called Western society. Therefore people have no real opinion about it, they just follow stereotypes.  Inspired by Margaret’s post about
Iceland I got tempted to try and show you some of the beauties from the EU’s Furthest East.

Paprocki Brzozowski is my personal number one.

“A model strutting the catwalk is hardly revolutionary in most countries, but Afghan television’s answer to America’s Next Top Model is breaking boundaries and revealing the beauty under the burqa.” More HERE

         Beauty Under The Burqa

I  work and interact with many Muslim women on a daily basis.  I don’t think any of them would really approved of that kind of TV program. Maybe secretly they would support the idea but none of them would really say it out loud.  I, on the other hand admire every single woman involved in this project. That is real feminism to me.

My friend Trisha got herself a new bag. A pretty good deal she said. The bag is almost-well-made, from almost- leather, almost-Fendi. Almost but not quite.

          No Cheating

These simple details and that brilliant bag which was obviously a pretty good deal from the point of view of this months budget may however cost her much more than she thinks. Basically anything starting from 500 pounds to 3 years in jail. That’s due to a new law imposing enormous fines on both sellers and buyers of designer ‘imitations’.

If you don’t have it – don’t fake it,  seem to be the slogan of the forthcoming seasons.

Today’s daily award for keeping me occupied on the train goes to a girl in a blue Gucci coat. I spent the entire 6 minutes of my train journey to work this morning STARING with my mouth wide open. This time it had nothing to do with a mascara. It was all about the eyeliner.  Liquid eyeliner in particular.

             eyeliner
She  managed to draw perfect lines on both of her eyelids while the train was moving and shaking and …. doing all that trains do.

I can’t draw a straight line with an eyeliner  standing still on the ground without making myself look like a panda.
